How to Determine Your Golf Glove Size

How to Determine Your Golf Glove Size - Did you know?

Less than 50% of golfers wear the correct size golf glove. Many golfers wear golf gloves that are too big and the slips and movements between hand and glove can cause their shots to be poor and inconsistent. Some players wear golf gloves that are too tight resulting in poor and incomplete gripping of the golf club which also can also cause poor and inconsistent shots.

The golf glove should fit like a second skin. It shouldn't fit too loose nor too tight. There should be no movement between hand and glove throughout the entire swing. Also, there should be no restriction in the ability of the hand and fingers to freely take hold of the club and maintain a comfortable and secure grip.

How to Determine Your Golf Glove Size - Important Measurements

Three measurements determine your golf glove size:

  • Circumference of the hand (Most Important)
    • The circumference of the hand is the most important measurement. It is measured around the knuckles, excluding the thumb.
  • Length of the middle finger (Second Important)
    • The length is the middle finger is the second important measurement. It is measured from the palm side of the hand from the third digit crease line of the finger to the tip. The middle finger is the longest of the fingers and it should have a snug and comfortable fit. The fit of the other fingers of the hand can vary from one peson to another on account of differing finger lengths. For example, many men have a longer ring finger than index finger on account of exposure to male hormones during development in the mother's womb. Conversely, many women have index fingers that are longer than their ring fingers. It is not usual for one of these fingers to not fit as well as the middle finger.
  • Length of the hand (Third Important)
    • The length of the hand is also an important measurement. It is measured from the palm side of the hand from the wrist crease line to the tip of the middle finger.
